Canyon Climbing and hiking
I am tired of seeing these threads/topics sitting for months with nothing... Let's see some more comments in all areas!
Last year we completed the Paddlers Club with the Georgia State Parks. We had to paddle (kayak) paths in six different State Parks. Each park was unique in its type of paddle.
This year we are Canyon Climbers. We first went to Providence Canyon State Park in southwest Georgia. It is a very small Grand Canyon. A few days ago we climbed Amicalola Falls in North Georgia. We still have to complete Cloudland Canyon State Park (Northwest) and Tullulah Gorge State Park (Northeast) to get our tee shirts.
I have picked a favorite picture from each state park and saved/will save the club brouchure, cards, and congrats letter for each of the clubs to frame.
Another goal we have this year is to walk and record our hikes for all sections of the Pine Mountain State Park Trails at FDR State Park. This park is about an hour from our house. It has one trail that is about 23 miles long but the park includes, with loop and access trails, around 40 miles of trails. We have an app on our "Droid" phone that records our path, distances, speeds, and elevations.
Whatever I do, I am thinking of the words of Pink Floyd in Obscured by Clouds from 1972 "The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime." I want to spend my old age with many great memories!
